Saturday 10th. December 2005 the beginning of a
new dawn in Jersey!
After 481 years, (Since 1524 during the Reign of King
Henry VIII) the Islands committee system of government has finally come to
an end. In December 2000 a study of the machinery of our government was
carried out by Sir Cecil Clothier and others, and he recommended a total
reform, this ministerial system is the result. Jersey has had it's own
autonomy since 1204 thanks to King John and the Islanders of the day who
chose to remain loyal to the Crown rather than stay with France. The changes the public are expecting may not happen for a while. Already the following Statesmen have the same position as before the Ministerial system, Senator Terry Le Sueur, Senator Stuart Syvret, Senator Paul Routier, Senator Terry Le Main, Senator Mike Vibert, Senator Wendy Kinnard. unless of course Senator Frank Walker cracks the whip.

The changes
The Elections take place on 26/11/2008. No changes so far. 2008 elections, Guy De Faye is not re-elected.
